Formal Presentation

“Restorative Justice” by Bob Richardson, Chief of Police, Battle Ground, WA.  The two major youth issues for law enforcement in our community are drugs (particularly marijuana) and alcohol.  He talked about the change during his tenure in the way his police officers deal with juveniles regarding truancy, petty theft, drug and alcohol abuse and non-violent infractions.  He discussed the impact of the still-developing frontal lobe in teen brains and their inability to process consequences of contemplated or implicit actions.
